The Consultative Table of the Muslim Community of Quebec (CTMCQ) fully echoes and supports Prime Minister Mark Carney’s recent statement condemning the ongoing failure to prevent the deepening humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
Thousands of innocent civilians, many of them children, continue to suffer and die as essential food, water, and medical aid remain blocked. As Prime Minister Carney underscored, control over aid distribution must be urgently replaced by safe, unhindered humanitarian access led by trusted international organizations. It is unacceptable that significant Canadian-funded assistance sits idle while families face starvation and disease. The deliberate denial of life-saving aid is a grave violation of international law and an affront to every principle of human dignity.
The CTMCQ joins the Government of Canada in calling for an immediate and meaningful ceasefire and for full respect for the territorial integrity of both the West Bank and Gaza. At this critical moment, we appeal to all global stakeholders, Canada, international partners, and United Nations bodies to intensify their efforts to ensure the immediate flow of humanitarian relief and the protection of civilians.
It is a stain on the conscience of our times that the world can witness children dying of hunger and thirst in real time while basic aid is blocked. This must not stand. Our collective humanity demands urgent, united action to save lives and uphold the fundamental rights of those trapped in this disaster.
